McLoone’s Restaurants First in State to Receive Green Certification
McLoone’s Restaurants have been named the first restaurants in the state of New Jersey to receive “Green” Certification from the Green Restaurant Association (www.dinegreen.com).
The Green Restaurant Association is a national non-profit organization that provides education to restaurants on how they can become more environmentally sustainable.
To receive certification, restaurants must initially adhere to four Environmental Guidelines set forth by the GRA, followed by additional criterion to be completed
each year thereafter.
Environmental initiatives already being implemented by McLoone’s include use of more water-efficient kitchen spray valves; additional organic food offerings on the
menu that support long-term maintenance of ecosystems and agriculture for future generations; use of recycling bins for waste and composting; and use of 100% recycled
paper for use in all office machines. Converting to energy-efficient lighting, use of cleaning products that are biodegradable, and use of chlorine-free paper
products are possible future initiatives.
“Implementing environmentally-sound practices in our everyday lives for the sake of the environment and for the sake of our families is extremely important,” states
Tim McLoone, president of McLoone’s Restaurants. “The environment continues to be an ongoing issue, yet with each small step we can raise consciousness within our
communities and greatly make a difference for future generations.”
